Winter activities on ice
Ice can be fun if it’s under a pair of skates… To name just one activity. In Finland as we are, ice has been combined with some of the Finns’ favourite activities, such as rally driving or fishing. For the fearless, there is the opportunity to take a bracing dip in the frozen lake.
Ice swimming
Ice swimming with or without sauna is, believe it or not, a popular recreation in Finland. After the first plunge and adrenaline rush you too will be addicted! Or would you rather brave the icy water in a floating suit?

Speed and figure skating
There are several indoor and outdoor ice rinks in the region open for public use, and several leisure centers offer their own facilities for their customers.

Tour skating
The 2.4 km long skating track over the frozen Jyväsjärvi lake is without doubt among the best in Finland. The track is open for public use free of charge. For information on skate rental and services for groups, contact the Jyväskylä Region Tourist Office
Ice-hole fishing
Fishing through a hole in the ice is a genuinely Finnish form of meditation, with the additional bonus of catching some fish!
