Hermanni Hyytiälä, Reaktor Innovations:
“Entrepreneurship is appreciated in Central Finland”
Reaktor Innovations, awarded as the Best Place to Work in Europe, has had a branch office in Jyväskylä since autumn 2008. Reaktor Innovations operates in information systems, education and consulting and finds Central Finland an interesting and attractive area, due to the lively University of Jyväskylä, University of Applied Sciences and central location.
“The short distances create a concrete advantage: it is easier to visit the customers. In Central Finland, everywhere is close by. All in all, the reception has been positive,” says Hermanni Hyytiälä, chief architect of the Jyväskylä office.
When locating to Jyväskylä, Reaktor Innovations was aided by Technopolis Group, one of the largest European technology centres, thanks to which the move to Central Finland was a smooth one.
“We did not need to stumble on small details and were able to concentrate on the essentials,” Hyytiälä points out.
Through Technopolis it was easy to find suitable business premises and good data communication connections. Settling down in Jyväskylä has been successful in other respects as well. Hyytiälä finds Jyväskylä an easy place to network, and there are some highly active clusters in the region. Jyväskylä’s relatively small size helps in finding and joining the local networks.
“Jyväskylä has strong momentum right now and entrepreneurship is highly appreciated in Central Finland. The desire to achieve and develop is clearly visible,” he says.
According to Hyytiälä, Central Finland offers a fine environment also for employees.
“As a family man, I value Jyväskylä's closeness to nature, and the fact that one does not need to spend endless time in traffic jams.”
Reaktor Innovations was chosen as Europe's best workplace in the Great Place to Work survey. The employee-friendly approach manifests in many ways at Reaktor: the company invests in its employees and their skills, and encourages self-initiative.
